Advise after desired category update

Some months ago, I submitted my website to DMOZ. My site could comfortable fit into several categories, but may not be just a perfect match for one. The category I selected was, as I saw it, the closest fit. That category was updated on May 2. It was again updated on Aug 20. It is not a crowded category, so I am sure if the site was accepted it would have show up by now. I also assume the editor will not be updating the category for a while again, given the time gap since the last updates.

As I have spent a considerable amount of time and effort, developing the site (it is build on a fully standards compliant LMS). I would hope it has at least a certain amount of merit and therefore if it were rejected I would feel the only cause, could be, a category selection that the editor did not feel appropriate or indeed the fact that prior to my submitting site, several developers had submitted it to more general categories.

I do however feel that the last submission, some 3 months ago was make by me to the correct category and after reviewing the sites logs that the site was indeed reviewed.

My questions:

If my site was rejected, would I be informed?
Have I any way to know what is going on; perhaps the editor has forwarded the site to another editor?
Should I just resubmit to another category?

Apologies for posting this question, which must be the most common question asked.

Kindest Regards

'No' to all three questions. We used to give out status information, but realized that it doesn't help the directory at all. More on this topic can be found in the FAQ of this forum.

If an editor stumbles over a site that belongs into a different category, he will forward it there (As long as you don't suggest an adult 'toy' site in the "toy cars" category). So no need to worry because of having chosen the secondbest category.

after reviewing the sites logs that the site was indeed reviewed.
There are many reasons for DMOZ referrers in your logs. Generally you can't deduct any onformation from that part of your logs. Some hits are caused by automated screening processes checking if sites are available (No need to have a human editor look at a 404 page, is there?). Editors might have done some prescreening to filter out particular good/bad/missubmitted sites. If it was an editor actively eviewing the site, he might have been disctracted, lost interest, ... - Or as you already assumed he might have moved the site somewhere else, where it now awaits review.

Indeed most interesting, I made the assumption that as somebody was reviewing the lesser viewed parts of the site, including the security statement, privacy statement and I assume looking for the cancellation policy just before the time the DMOZ category was updated that it was the DMOZ editor.

However, that visitor was not referred, it was a direct visitor and perhaps maybe I jumped to the wrong conclusion and it was just a co-incidence.

Hmm. Off course there would be a referrer.

Thank you for help.
