Hi everyone.

I have a website that I have been trying to get onto Dmoz ever since it started. Admittedly I have submited it twice (i think) since its beginning (around 2004). But have never been successful in getting on to Dmoz.

I did make a post here back in 2006

to ask some questions about submiting and only then found out that your only supposed to submit a site once. So I followed the advice there and didnt re-submit my site, just waited...

I know that you do not get notification either way with Dmoz but I guess that I never got accepted.

Now we're in 2009 I was wondering if it would be appropriate to re-submit my site? - The reason being is that since I last submited (2006) my site has changed substancially - our ethos is still exactly the same but we have done a major re-design and restructure, in fact we are using a complete new back-end system, we have a new hosting plan and the site is doing much better than it ever has.

Anyway, to sumarise, I would still love to have my site listed in Dmoz, and wonder if I could/should re-submit?

I wont list any more details of my site as the rules of this forum advise against it but obviously if anyone wants to take a look at the site please PM me.

Many thanks

Dave

We had a major system crash in late 2006 and AOL's systems engineers, who run our servers, were unable to recover some of the data. I'm sorry to tell you that most pending website suggestions were lost :(.

By all means suggest your site again now.

Ok thanks for the quick reply!

ok that would explain why I never got listed!

Anyway, I have now re-sibmited my site; read all the guidelines VERY carefully, selected the most appropriate catagory, filled out the form as best I could. So now Il just sit back and wait!!!

Fingers crossed...

Re-Submitting

I have a similiar situation as this. We submitted our site about 2 years ago. We have gone through some major restructuring of our site, making it much more enhanced. How would we submit our site without going to the bottom of the pending list?

Short answer: You can't.

Long answer: It's a pool, not a list, and editors can process it in any order they wish. Some sort it by suggestion date. Others cherry pick as I do. We tend to pass over hyped suggestions in favour of those that have made some attempt at meeting our guidelines.

This is not something we look at when reviewing a site

Doesn't seem to me that anything is changes that DMOZ cares about when reviewing a website. It is all about content.

That being said. If the last time you suggested your site was in 2006 you are allowed to suggest it again. At the end of 2006 we had a crash and lost almost all open suggestions. If you suggested the website in 2007 or later there is no need to suggest it again, unless you have created completely different content.

Hi , We did change the content since 2007 for sure. This answers my question. Thanks very much. :)
