Hi,

Alexa is saying that they are picking the details of my site <URL Removed> from ODP, but there are no details of the site on ODP. I submitted the site to ODP only a month back so I was not expecting it to be submitted so soon. But don't understand where Alexa got its rating from. Can anyone tell me what is happening?

Regards,

Hello,

If the site was added recently, it may not be showing up in a DMOZ search because that database is not updated as frequently as the directory itself.

Questions about how Alexa uses our data should be directed at Alexa, we provide the data but don't have any information on how their systems use it.

Thanks.

One more query

Hi Photofox,

Thank you for the quick response. I have one more query- how do I find out if my site is listed or not if the search database has not been updated?

Regards,

TG

On the search results page you can see the date the search database was last updated. For example http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=dmoz.org shows the last update was Thu Apr 5 01:21:17 EDT 2007.

There is no way to tell if your site is listed until it either shows up in the category you sugessted it to (if that was the correct place for it) or by waiting for it to show up in the search results. When searching just use the domain, for example search for dmoz.org rather than http://www.dmoz.org.
