any way to change wrong title on ODP ?????

Is there any way to update how ODP has written up the title and category in Dmoz? I've been through the update URL bit to no avail.
They insist on listing our site as Gary Ward Oak Forest Realty when the company name and site is Great Carolina Property. My husband hangs his shingle at Oak Forest along with lots of other realtors (It's like a local Remax or Century 21) but his company name is still Great Carolina Property and I don't want to use his name as the title or Oak Forest as someone else might get his clients. If someone is going to look for him they will look for the company name as that is what he advertises in print ads. I've tried several times to write ODP to update it but our category has no editor, thus no response. Am I out of options? I think it was registered that way 4 years ago when someone else had built his site. Since then we have changed servers and content yet ODP seems to refuse to correct this. I realize ODP doesn't like words like "Great" but that is his company name. We didn't even decided this as when he started his company four years ago. He wanted a web presence and the designer at that time suggested that so we kept it for everything. Not just the web. Can anyone help me?
He is listed at dmoz listing It is where some other realtors are but even I have a hard time finding him just to post it here. Thanks Susan

The real estate guidelines for listing titles are very strict. That is because real estate agents have historically been very agressive about using alias URLs, mirror and fraternal mirror domains, etc., and we have to list them in such a way that we can easily spot duplicates.

So, if his name is really Gary Ward and he really hangs his shingle out at Oak Forest Realty, then the listing title is correct. It doesn't matter how many times he changes his webserver or site content, so long as he doesn't change his own name. And if, following a lot of his competitors, he went out and incorporated as "Large Carolina Estates", "Mega Carolina Homes", Gross Carolina Domains", "Big Carolina Shacks", AND all possible permutations thereof, we'd spot him more quickly because of our guideline. We do what we have to do. And this is what we have to do here.

Well then it should be Gary Ward Great Carolina Property because that is his company name. by saying he "hangs his shingle" means that that company holds his license and takes a cut of his pay to share office space, but he is his own broker and legally responsible for his sales. This is not a made up name but his REAL company name and I take offence of being clumped together with unscrupulous web designers or realtors. I take a lot of pride in running an honest business! so you do have it incorrect and all the other major directories and search engines have it correct and had no problem correcting the problem two years ago when we had discovered that someone else registered him wrong originally. But that is fine if you see it this way. I won't bother ODP anymore. Two years is long enough. At least now I know where the problem is.. .. Thanks Susan

Understood.

Understood. And the spammers have not one but many REAL company names. So we don't list REAL company names. We list person name, and license-holder (agency) name.

>and I take offence of being clumped together with unscrupulous web designers or realtors.
Sorry, but we clump all the realtors together, and ... sigh, you know how it is. We can't redefine categories based on our judgment of scrupulosity, which is a good thing, because we can't expect to be able to judge that very well. We just do websites.

Same with web designers. And I'm not particularly proud of some of the other folks in my categories, either. But...that's life Just imagine how both of the honest lawyers feel.

I heard they both went insane but what do I know? Okay I understand your position but it seems ashamed that we should have to pay for someone else's mistake. I mean think about it, I could submit one of my competitors under a wrong name and screw them up on the web for life.Which is kinda what happened. Hardly seems fair. So what happens next year when we're ready to separate ourselves completely from Oak Forest? Which means renting our own store front then how do we get this changed then do I need to send a copy of his registration?

No problem. Presumably the site will be updated to reflect the new status, and we'll be able to see that circumstances have changed. Simply submit an update, mentioning that the business has moved, and we'll change the title to whatever is appropriate.

You're not 'paying for someone else's mistake'. It's unlikely that whoever submitted your site did so with the title it has now. That title was almost certainly written by one of our editors, following the very strict rules we have for real estate sites. It is a shame that you are unable to have the title that you want, but I'm afraid that your husband's line of business is full of shady characters that will do anything to get a tiny advantage over their fellow workers. This means that we have to clamp down on all of you, the good and the bad alike. I know it's not fair, but that's the only way we can do it.
