Hello,

I sent my application for the german part of DMOZ:
http://www.dmoz.org/World/Deutsch/Regional/Europa/Spanien/Reise_und_Tourismus/
name: mallmis
I have got a very quick answer that I will not become an editor.
Of course I have some sites in DMOZ, because I am a web developer, but this is not the reason for my application. I just wanted to help!

This ist really not fair, because my recommendations were very good and I had no errors in german orthography.

I will never again send any application to this elitist club. EDIT:<-- sorry, bad emotions

Good luck and a nice day,

Michael

Hi mallmis, many editors have been denied on their first attempt. The email you recieved will have a list of common mistakes and beng able to determine which mistake(s) you made and to solve them can be seen as part of the application process.
Having some webistes or being a webdeveloper will not be a reason for rejection. Atleast not as long as you have been honest about it and did list all websites your are involved with.

Hello pvgool,

thank you for your reply.

My first post was a little bit hard, sorry for that.

In the mail from dmoz editors are many reasons why the application was not accepted, but no concrete one. I think it is an automatic mail. I do not know exactly where the mistake(s) are, because of the many reasons in this mail. How can I figure that out? Is there a possibility to come in contact with someone who can help me or the person who evaluated the application?

Thank you and sorry again for the first mail:rolleyes:

The email is not an automatic one. Each application is reviewed by a human and answered by a human. But that human may decide to send one of several standard emails as a response.
One or more of the reasons in the email are valid for your application. Being able to understand and solve the problem(s) is something an editor must be able to do on his own as it is very common to the tasks he will have to do as an editor.

To help you (and others) we have written a special thread FAQ and General Advice About Becoming an Editor
