Application process question ( 2nd question added)

Hey Admin,

I just wanted to ask a quick question. I've been reading over the forum and noticed that some people who submit an application on say Tuesday get a reply Wednesday (even if it is a rejection). I submitted mine a week ago, and so was wondering are the applications done in the order they are recieved? if thats the case I wonder why some are done faster even though they were submitted later...I checked on the status of mine and someone was kind enough to look for me, apparently it is awaiting review. I was just curious about the process so I wanted to enquire...

Like site suggestions, editor applications can be done in any order (it's not a FIFO situation).

Hi again Admin,

Sorry I am full of questions today. I was just browsing through one of the catagories I am interested in, noticed that the sub section I applied (http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Photography/Techniques_and_Styles/Digital/Photographers/)
to no longer has the option to "volunteer to edit" but the catagory above still does, so I am wondering if this has an effect on the application I submitted before it was removed?
