Hello

I would like to check the status of my application.

I applied 21/08/2010 to edit the following category:-
http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Video_Games/Platform/Mario_Games/

My key was as below:-
45adc2532288935e657c8aa12b6b26ac

I have not as yet recieved a further email since the email verification one.

I was an editor of the above category over seven years ago and for personal reasons became inactive. I would like once again to be an editor for dmoz and believe I now have time enough on my hands to make a positive contribution to the directory once more.

Look forward to any feedback on my application.

Best regards

Luke

That application was declined. The directory allows only one editor account per editor. You will need to apply for a reinstatement of your previous account.

Hi Artisan

Thanks for your response.

I did try to apply for reinstatement but unfortunately I cant remember the info I previously used (it was seven years ago!) - Is there any way I can find out what my old username etc was?

Best regards

While we usually welcome returning ex editors, we are insistent that they come back under their original identities. That you've forgotten some of your login details or you no longer have access to your original email account are merely stumbling blocks, not show stoppers.

Please contact me via http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/send.cgi?toeditor=artisands with as much corroborative information as you can such as:-

Approximate date joined
Editor name (but not password)
Real name
Original email address
Joining category
Additional categories gained
Roughly how many edits done
Approximate date of leaving and the circumstances

Convince me that you are who you say you are and I can reset your email address of record to one that works today. This will make it possible for you to request a password reminder and complete a reinstatement request form.

OK I've done what you said and hopefully provided sufficient info, though if anything is missing or needs further clarification please let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to help me with this.

Hello,

I re-applied for editor status via the reinstatement form on 13/09/2010 as instructed by Artisan.

Could you please advise how long it usually takes to get one of these reviewed / the status of my reinstatement request?

Thanks

Luke

Unfortunately, it's more. Still awaiting review. You'll receive a confirmation when it gets reviewed.

Why does it take so long? I mean, it's reading two sentences of arguing, checking previous edits and accepting or rejecting the application. What did I miss??

Sorry, I once was ddmin in another community, and the worst thing we did do is letting the users wait... Please just help me understand why it can take over one month to accept or reject an application!

Meta editors are volunteers who get to choose how, when, and where they work, just like all other editors. Not all of them choose to review reinstatement requests (and not all reinstatement requests are as straightforward as you describe).

Yes, this I understand. But I'm sure that there would be enough meta editors that won't wait over one month for a (more or less) simple request. If there are to many request, there are to less meta editors. Or do you have problems finding metas?
