Dmoz Team,

Not sure about previous attempts but I am trying to become an editor for :
http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Human_Resources/Recruitment_Management/

Can I check the status of the application? That directory is in big time need of a clean up and it is right up my alley.

My username is brightmoveus

Thanks so much for looking into it. I have applied before without any feedback on why I was denied.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the quick response. I just assumed after lack of notification. It has been a while. March timeframe to be exact. I applied again this morning.

Thank You Again,
Mike

Have you been an editor before?
Previous editors should ask for reinstatement.

Could it be some old application that looks like I was an editor?
No, it couldn't be. Unfortunately, your old editor account will not be reinstated and new applications will not be accepted from you, so there is no point in reapplying. We do wish you well in your future endeavours elsewhere, though.

Motsa,

I don't understand. Why, I seriously have no idea what the issue is and your message would indicate I must have some very negative history. Please send me a direct message and give me some feedback. I hadn't used or even looked at DMOZ for around 10 years until this past year. I don't understand at all.

Unfortunately we can't discuss specific editor accounts. (No, not even via PM or e-mail.) I've really said all I can or will about your particular situation. People are permitted only one editor account. If that editor account is removed or if a reinstatement request for an account is denied (and both of those only happen for cause and after a discussion among meta editors), then the person cannot be an editor.

Wow, thanks for the feedback either way. I seriously don't understand but the rules are the rules. If any editors have some time. A lot of those companies in that directory are no longer around or not dedicated recruiting software. I certainly apologize for anything I must have done years ago. The HR Software directories should probably be broken down by discipline with another directory for Suite (More than one focus) vendors that have all the core HR functionality. The structure in their currently doesn't really present itself the way the industry looks at HR technology.

Again, please accept my apologies for anything I did back then. I really just don't recall but I was just a programmer for a small software company back then.

Thanks,
Mike

If you want to help, there is a thread titled "Report Hijacks, Dead Links, Inappropriate ODP Content, and other issues here ONLY" in the Quality Control Feedback forum for people to report issues they find in the directory. (For example, companies that are no longer around.) There really is no place to suggest structural changes to the directory -- you can mention your thoughts in that thread, but your comments about the structure may or may not ever be read by anyone who plans to edit in the category in the future.
