Dear jimnoble,
I will quote some things I find interesting.
Like any community, you get what you give. The Open Directory provides the opportunity for everyone to contribute.
Regarding to You answer, some peoples doesn't have an opportunity to contribute because You are discriminating them by the language they use, even You are aware that ODP is a wide world internet community.
We accept editors from all walks of life, and we attempt to represent all points of view. We will keep our application process open to anyone interested in joining. Each new editor application will be reviewed by a member of the ODP community.
How can I join if Yoy are telling me that I should write another application for another language and not my native, even World/Srpski exist as a part of Your project. Even You are all volunteers, that doesn't means that some language should suffer and applicants should be discriminated on language basis and recommended to apply for another language? Even if You have the ability to use Your discretion powers for telling me that it will be reviewed when it will be, or You will decline it right now...why would You decline an application You don't understand? I guess You have a policy when and why You can decline an application or You do that based on free will?
I'm not sure that legal section of the AOL would like to deal with a letter from a Serbian citizen who want to become a member of an international community while she was talking to get rid of practicing her language to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, also Mr. Šimonović as Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights from Croatia would understand better my concerns about the politics forced in the community which is a part of AOL Netscape.
Thank You!
