Awaiting evaluation. It might take a while because we don't have many meta editors who feel competent to process Bahasa Indonesia language applications.

Firstly, I just want to say thanks for Meta Editor that was respond my application. Unfortunately the response sounded like this:

Narrow your Focus

Dear agungbijaksana,

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Open Directory Project editor!

Although we would like you to join us as a volunteer editor, you have chosen a category that is larger than we typically assign to a new editor, or is otherwise unsuitable for an inexperienced editor to start editing in. We would encourage you to re-apply for a category that is smaller in scope, and/or is less likely to attract large numbers of site suggestions. Once you have been accepted to a different category and have gained some editing experience, it will be possible for you to apply to take on additional categories (including the one you applied to here).

Feel free to reapply by submitting an application in another area or to a sub-category of the category you applied for originally. If you wish to re-apply, you must fill out another application. Please do not reply to this email.

Regards,
The Open Directory Project

So, I re-submitting my application with many improvement based on the suggestions. I hope Dmoz can give the second chance for me, thanks.

There's one thing that I want to tell, and I hope this short message can be a valuable input for ODP.

Caused by the reply from Meta Editor, I do contact with many Indonesian ODP Editor to get shared about his/her experience editing in Dmoz, and I felt so happy can get many priceless story and advice. On the other hand, almost of Indonesia ODP Editor that I were contacted are inactive Editor that can't login to their account like http://www.dmoz.org/public/profile?editor=rudylo and some of them has died like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sanko, so I hope ODP can give chance for the other to occupied the category or sub-category that've been abandoned by them.

Best regards.

Thanks, and let I summarized the things that I've learned from my Editor friend, Meta Editor, and this topic.
  1. As a new or inexperienced editor, you have to gained some editing experience by editting the lower hierarchy or a category that is smaller in scope, and/or is less likely to attract large numbers of site suggestions.
Once you have been accepted, you have to pay attention to some of the following important:
  1. [background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]No or little content = no addition on the website that a user suggest. [/background]
  2. [background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]The more subject specific the web site or page, the better. [/background]
  3. [background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Reject sites that primary concern is to make money. [/background]
  4. [background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Highlight Geocities sites. [/background]
  5. [background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Do not accept more than two times for the same domain. [/background]
  6. [background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Chopped long descriptions, become a shorter description. [/background][background=rgb(252, 252, 252)] [/background]
  7. [background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Submit to the right category. [/background]
  8. [background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Be an active Editor[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]I hope I'm in the right way, thanks for all support and I'm sorry if there's many grammaticaly mistakes in my reply.[/background]

> No or little content = no addition on the website that a user suggest.
This is largely correct. We like to call this "we only list websites with enough unique content"

> The more subject specific the web site or page, the better.
No and yes. A listable website is not better than any other website. A website will be listed in the category that fits all its subjects.

> Reject sites that primary concern is to make money.
Again yes and no. We list commercial websites but we do not list websites that are only designed to send visitors to other websites.

> Highlight Geocities sites.
No idea why you think this is true. Sites listed on a free hosting service will be treated the same as any other site.

> Do not accept more than two times for the same domain.
No. Editors can decide to list a website more than once (and also more than twice). Ofcourse a website will only be listed once in a category.

> Chopped long descriptions, become a shorter description.
Most suggested descriptions must be rewritten by editors to make them compliant with our guidelines.

> Submit to the right category.
If a site is not suggested to the right category (and this happens often) than the editor must send it ti the right one.

> Be an active Editor
Each editor decides how active he wants to be, We have no requirements for a minimum amount of activity.
For security reasons editors that have done no edits in 4 months can be inactivated. They can ask for reactivation at any time.

Thanks for the correction. I'll continouing improve my knowledge about Dmoz by reading the guidelines, so I can be a high valuable editor, and here's the URL of the category that I re-submitted: http://www.dmoz.org/World/Bahasa_Indonesia/Komputer/Internet/Pencarian/ Please ask me, if the category is not suitable for a newcomer like me.

It is not the category I would have chosen myself. In many kanguages it attracts a lot of spam.
A regional category is in my opinion much more rewarding to work in.
http://www.dmoz.org/World/Bahasa_Indonesia/Daerah/Asia/Indonesia/Provinsi/
But we will have to wait until the application is reviewed.

I think the category that I've chosen is less spammy than the regional category, in example http://www.dmoz.org/World/Bahasa_Indonesia/Komputer/Internet/Pencarian/ has more specific topic which made feel easier to distinguished the sites that qualified and do not qualified by the content, features, and the functionality of the suggested sites, while the regional category (i.e. http://www.dmoz.org/World/Bahasa_Indonesia/Daerah/Asia/Indonesia/Provinsi/Jakarta/) has too general topic, ecommerce, goverment, portofolio, news, wiki sites can be included in this category, and we only can distinguished the suggested site by the location. But maybe I'm wrong, because I've never felt the experience of editing a category in Dmoz.

I want and will asked to him, but I worry he already knew about it and can't do that caused by his business, because he is an administrator in an Indonesian popular-enough forum too, and has another real business in Singapore, but I'll still try asked him, and I hope he wants to come back.
