I applied for
Regional/Europe/Spain/Autonomous_Communities/Canary_Islands/
I received this standard mail :

chosen a category that is already well represented, or is broader than
we typically assign to a new editor. We would encourage you to re-apply
for a category that has fewer editors or is smaller in scope, in order
to increase your chances of being accepted.

so I re-applied for
Regional/Europe/Spain/Autonomous_Communities/Canary_Islands/Tenerife/
on October 1st and I still have no news.

Can I get the status, please.

I'm not seeing any pending applications for that category, so I would have to assume that your latest application was denied. That category is still broader than we would usually grant to a new editor. Look for a category that has less than 100 sites listed.

I would also think about finding something not in the Canary Islands. I seem to remember that area being notorious for spam so we would probably leave that to editors with more experience.

Personally, I find that it's best to start in a topical category that you would have an interest in, or in a Regional category close to where you live or where you have lived. It's easier to find new sites for a category that you really have an interest in, or know a lot about.

I think that your application was denied. As I mentioned above I really don't think that this is the best area for a new editor to start. The Canary_Island categories are notorious for the amount of spam submitted and it's sometimes hard for a new editor to know the good from the bad.
