If you had read all that is behind the link jim gave you, you would know the answer. Quoting from the READ BEFORE POSTING section:

Applications can take anywhere from 3 minutes to 3 months to process, and even that is not guaranteed. Generally you will receive a response one way or the other when your application has been processed.

How long does this evaluation take?
The actual evaluation takes anywhere from 1 to 20 minutes depending upon the application's quality. A well researched one with no integrity issues usually takes 5-10 minutes. Other metas' mileage may vary.

Now it is almost December and I still didn't get an answer. The last Editor in the Category I have applied for was online in October and some links in this Category are not even working. I think nobody is really taking care at all, neither for the links nor for recruiting new editors.

The only application in the name of finlandexpat was declined on 2009-08-13 and an email was sent to you explaining why.

A later application for the category under a different name might have been yours. It was declined on 2009-09-26.

well, I didn't get any email. Maybe you can send it to me as a PM. As I said there are dead links in this category since quite a long time, maybe you should get some people who are able to take care of it. You have 10 entries in this category since over 1 year. Doesn't really sound that there is really somebody working on it.

All editor activities are performed by volunteers, including the assessment of editor applications, so there is no specific time frame involved, but as you can see from jimnoble's post, both(?) of your applications were reviewed within days to weeks, and feedback was sent to you on both(?) occasions.

The fact that you have not received those answers is perhaps because you did not adjust your email spam filters, but that has nothing at all to do with volunteer editors, their activity, or how much they "take care". :)

then you can maybe tell me why you have dead links in this category and the same entries since ages? Either there are no volunteers or they are not really doing anything. When I got a confirmation email after I have sent my application, it didn't end up as a spam email so why should those rejections end up as spam?

Sure, it is exactly the same answer I already gave you ...
All editor activities are performed by volunteers.
Editors work when they feel like it, and where they feel like it (within the bounds of their permissions). Nobody is "forced" to work anywhere. That's exactly what a volunteer organisation is all about. :)

So until someone feels like spending time in a category, the only activity there will be from automatic processes like link checkers. These are not foolproof, which is why we always welcome assistance in removing dead links. Please report them in the QC thread in this forum, or use the Update URL feature in the category. Thanks!

I think your editors will be able to do it. I am not qualified anyway to work as an editor so why should I report them? I am 100% sure that I will find the same dead links in 6 months in this category :)

why should I report them?
Because you found them and they bother you and you want to help improve the category and there is an easy way to do it? Those look like pretty good reasons to me. ;)

On the other hand, simply complaining about them but not reporting them seems rather counter-productive. If you are unwilling to make this small effort, how can you criticise others?

Because I don't really feel qualified for this job (as I was told). Wish you a great day! ;)
