For the past two weeks I have militantly been attempting to send my confirmation into a myriad of email addresses. Today my reply was successful to the email address of 'apply@dmoz.org'

ROFL. "Militantly"? Should've said "diligently" or "persistently"... but noooo... you had to say "militant". Now even if you get in they'll only let you edit in Texas. :p

Seriously, thanks for the heads up, and congrats on getting past the email stage. Maybe that means staff is winning the war exterminating those bugs. We direly needed the new hardware, so I figure the growing pains are worth it.

I do know they are going to have a serious backlog in the applications queue once the metas can access it, so for ALL potential editors that see this, please be patient. We DO want new editors, and the editing experience will be enhanced by the very hardware upgrade that has slowed the entry process down for the immediate present.

Good luck to everybody submitting those apps. We hope to see you with "Editor" beside your name in here soon. :)

We have access again. Needless to say, we have a lot of applications to review

Welcome in.

Don't be overwhelmed with the massive amount of information that awaits to be read. The forums are a click away if you need help with anything. No doubt a couple of editors, close to where you start editing, will drop on over to give you a hand to begin with.

I got this for a message recently :
Your Open Directory editor application could not be confirmed.
The error received was:

Bad authentication ticket

Does that mean that they got the application but they will not process it? I attempted to re-apply but it told me they already had the application...confused.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That normally should mean that the number in the subject line of your confirmation mail was not recognized. It might have been that you accidently changed it, or maybe after those problems we had lately your application timed out.

So what should I do? They claim that they have it, but they are not telling me whether or not I need to update the information, re-submit it, or sit tight because they are getting around to it... Still confused

If you resubmit, it will tell you whether you have a pending application, for whatever that's worth. (We know there are still some problems that are being worked.) Sitting tight for a week will not prejudice your eventual acceptance either.

I mean the other wierd part of that is that they gave me the number so if it came back to them incorrectly then they provided an incorrect number...I did not touch a thing I just hit the resend button...so again what do I do? Who can I get in touch with to see that it does get reviewed?

Some email clients handle in the wrong way the rather large ticket number. Check the reply generated by your email client and make sure that the number wasn't split on 2 lines and that's it's still in one piece. Also check to see if the line on which the number is located hasn't been truncated, and that the subject of your reply hasn't been trimmed.

If you notice anything specified above, correct it and resend the confirmation email.

I did hit the resend button I am not a total moron...the problem is now that when I attempt to reapply I am told I do not have enough experience as an editor and I should pick a smaller topic, which I have now done, then after I pick the smaller topic I am told that I should give 3 URL's not 2 even though it says you can submit 2 or 3. Then I am given the excuse that at this time I am not being considered for a possible spelling mistake, grammatical error or some other obscure possibility...what is the deal is this like a fraternity or something? How old are these people...
