Appropriate category to submit this new site

I would like to submit a new site to your directory and I hope I am asking this question in the appropriate forum.
I would like to know the best category to submit this site to:

That is not a service that this forum provides.

Well, it should, so why not?

Because, in order to provide a comprehensive answer, we would have to view and review the site. doing so would be a collossal waste of editor time, reviewing a site so that it could be sumitted to a category where it would wait up to four years to be reviewed by a differnet editor for possible inclusion.

Yeah, maybe, but if you looked it it now you could tell me what is wrong with it or just go ahead and list it.

But that is specifically prohibited by the forum charter, and would be proving a shortcut to a speedy listing. If we did it for you, we'd have to do it for the 4 million other webmasters who think they should be first in line.

It seemed like in the past they wanted you to ask about the category to get it right.

If I do get it in the wrong category will I have an opportunity to change it, and will I be notified of the error?

No, you won't be notified. If you pick the wrong category (assuming you made a good faith effort to get it at least close to the right place and didn't just randomly pick a category), the editor who finds it will move it to the right category for review.

This brings up another couple interesting questions. Well ... interesting to me at least ...

As one progresses through the various category levels in order to list a site, one eventually comes to a list of sites that presumably fit the particular category. Are these the sites in that category that are awaiting listing?

If so, how often is that list updated for new submissions?

As one progressess throught the categories - eventually you end up at the end of the category structure where there are sites listed. What you see is what's listed (up and down the category tree). From the public side, you can't see what is waiting to be listed. And from the editor side, if you don't have permissions in a category, you can't see what is waiting to be listed.
