Just checking to make sure these categories would be appropriate to submit to:

(i) Global Distributor of Medical Products and Technologies

http://www.alliedmedical.com.au

I am planning to submit to:

http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Healthcare/Products_and_Services/

(ii) Technical resource on Lupins. Previously unavailable information.

http://www.lupins.org/

I am planning to submit to :

http://www.dmoz.org/Science/Agriculture/Field_Crops/Legumes/

(iii) Local timber floorboard company.

http://www.colemantimberfloors.com.au/

I am planning to submit to :

http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Oceani...stralia/Business_and_Economy/Home_and_Garden/

If anyone has any obvious reasons why these websites should not be wedded to these directories, speak now, or forever hold your peace.

You know your websites far better than we do. When our systems are working again, just choose what you think are the most appropriate categories and suggest your websites to there. If our editors think you made the wrong choices, they'll move them.

How many locations does Colemans have?

The Regional guidelines, which can be found at http://dmoz.org/guidelines/regional/ apply, and in Australia this (generally) means that we try to list sites at the lowest possible geographic container by location, not service area. (There are, as always, exceptions, but this is an overview for the majority of cases, and suggesting sites using this logic will get it closer to the correct category, if not actually in it, when it is suggested)

Generally this can be paraphrased as follows:
Sites with one location go in their Locality.
Sites with multiple locations within a Municipality go at Municipal level.
Sites with multiple locations in more than one Municipality, but within a Region go at Region level.
Sites with multiple locations in more than one Region, but within a State go at State level.
Sites with multiple locations in more than one State, but within a Country go at Country level.

Hello hutchens05.

While the technical problems delay your intended suggestions, it might be worth carefully reading the stickied thread called How to get your site listed FOUR times faster!. In particular I would like to draw your attention to this useful advice:
It is especially important to submit to the most specific category possible for your site, because submissions to categories that are too broad will wait much longer before an editor looks at them and sends them to the right category.

So although it may have no effect whatsoever on if or when a site is listed, it certainly makes sense to do your best to minimise the number of times a site needs to be moved, possibly by a succession of editors over an indeterminate period of time. Rather than quickly choosing the first big category which relates to a site, it is time very well spent to have a careful look at subcategories, sub-sub categories, linked categories etc. :)
