A little bit of confusion between these two categories. To my poor, untrained eye, it seems as though they both do the same thing, upon reviewing the listed sites.

I am not sure if there's something I am missing, and I hope there is, because I am applying for Writer's Resources: Chats and Forums editor-ship, and would like to know before I get the inevitable DENIED letter.

Any help?

Thanks.

Hmmm polly I am a bit confused, like you - but I think the first category (http://dmoz.org/Arts/Online_Writing/Chats_and_Forums/) should focus on websites that offer some kind of active online writing activity (for example, forum users all working on the same story, contributing to its development; books written in blog format by multiple users); the latter is more "traditional", in the sense it focuses on resources for writers, not on online writing activities. Maybe.

If you look at the category descriptions (link in the upper right] - it help to clarify.

One is for those who write online

The other is online discussion for writers who are writing (offline) normal printed text

If you go one level up in the online writing e.g. http://dmoz.org/Arts/Online_Writing/desc.html - you will see a specific note that points from one the other :

Sites with information for writers should be submitted to Writer's Resources .

and also This category is for Writing that exists exclusively online.

Doh! Hehe, well, at least I got it right just by looking at the websites - which means they are well divided among the two categories :)

Doh!

Thanks for the clarification...

EDIT: Ohh... I checked the descriptions for both categorys before posting this, and was still confused. I should have thought of moving up one category. Sorry.

Thanks for your time.
