OK, maybe this is just a stupid question.

But how do you tell if a site has 'unique' content for the category?

I mean, how unique can you get? It's basically for forums and chat systems. Which is all well and good. But there's only so many different forms of Chats and Forums that are Writing Resources.

Any help?

Typically, we'd list the ones that represented active well-moderated communities, and let the inactive ones slide.

So look: how many posts are there? How many are just drive-by spam? How many different people seem to be active? Is there a unique focus, so that the community is small but nobody else is so active in that niche?

Also, in a well-represented topic, we'd avoid listing deep-links of any except the exceptionally active and respected sites that have forums as an ancillary to other content -- that is, instead of listing "Maine Writers' Club Forum" separately, mention in the MWC website that they also HAVE a forum.

The combination of these rules should cut the category down to a manageable and useful size.
