At my category, click on add url, no sub. form?

To all:

Ok, I'm trying to submit to the following category:
http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Boating/Boat_Sales_and_Rentals/North_America/United_States/Tennessee/

my site is:
http://www.marineconsignment.biz/

Every time I click on "add url" I get sent back to http://dmoz.org/add.html which is the "How to add a Site to ODP" help screen. I'm stuck in this endless loop. What I was expecting was a submission form. What gives? Am I doing something wrong?

This category only has 7 listing currently and I noticed at the bottom of the screen there is a mention that this category needs an editor. Does that mean I can't submit until my category gets an editor? How did the other 7 sites that are listed get in?

Hmm, I've just refreshed the public page (technically called a "Public Page Regeneration" in ODP terminology) and the 'Add URL' link has disappeared. Since I can't understand why such a small category has had the 'Add URL' function disabled, I'll consult with a few other ODP editors to try and see the reason why... Many thanks for alerting us to this anomaly.

However, the good news is that I've manually added your site to the unreviewed queue there (where it is the only site awaiting review). Don't worry about the "Needs an editor" message: it just means that an editor hasn't made that category one of their "pet categories" - but many many editors can still edit it (everyone that can edit in ANY of the categories above can also edit and review sites in this one). Have you considered becoming an editor though?

Ah, I've found out why (fellow editors see this internal forum thread). Basically, the Recreation/Boating/Boat_Sales_and_Rentals/ category is in the middle of a "reorganisation" and most of the listings are being moved to the appropriate category under the Regional section of the directory. The "Add URL" facility was probably turned off to try and allow editors to concentrate on getting the reorganisation done then having to currently bother with reviewing sites.
Your site will be moved to the appropriate Regional/ category in due course.

Thanks for the feedback. This is my first submittal and I have alot to learn about the submission process. I am considering becoming an editor...maybe later...

Thanks for adding my site to the "unreviewed queue" but I'm still a little confused about what I need to do next. I have NOT completed a submission form for this site and it is my understanding that there is a great deal of info that gets entered into the submission form about the site. I know that I need to complete this submission form without any errors or omissions.

Questions:
Is being placed in the "unreviewed queue" enough? Is that the ultimate goal of the submitter? Will that get my site into the directory? Should I wait until the "Boat Sales and Rental" category appears under "Regional" and submit my site? Do you know what the full name (or path) of this new category is going to be? How long will this reorg. take? Days? Weeks? Months?

Sorry for all the questions...just answer what you wish (or can).

Thanks for the help.

I'm thinking you might be confusing filling in the editor application form (where it is very important that you fill the form in carefully and completely) with submitting a URL (which isn't really that serious a process). The only information asked for is the URL, title, and description of your site and your email address. If the title or description don't meet our guidelines, all that will happen is that the editor reviewing your site will correct them. It's important that you pick the best category to submit to but that's really it.

When you submit your site, it goes into the unreviewed queue of the category you submitted it to. Beebware has helped you bypass the submittal process by putting you directly into the unreviewed queue -- he most likely used the title and description that are in your site's meta tags but those will probably not be in the final listing (whenever that happens).

You don't need to do anything now that your site is in the queue except wait patiently. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Ok! That sounds good to me.

Thanks!
