FORMATTING YOUR REQUEST:
- Always include the URL of the site you're asking about in the title of the thread.
- In the body of your post, include clickable links to 1. your site and 2. the dmoz.org category or categories you submitted to. The simplest way to do this is to copy and paste the URL of the ODP category. Please note that all category links must point to pages on dmoz.org, and nowhere else.
Example:
Please let me know the status of http://www.mysite.com, submitted to
1. http://dmoz.org/Business/Mining_and_Drilling/Mining_Equipment/Controls_and_Switchgear/
2. http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/Canada/Quebec/Business_and_Economy/
- If you're starting a thread for a new URL submission which was submitted to a subcategory of Shopping/, Business/, Computers/, or Regional/, please start a thread in the appropriate subforum.
- If the site is waiting for review in subcategories of more than one of these top level categories, or if your site was submitted to one of the other top level categories, please create your thread in the main Site Submission Status forum.
- If you already have a thread about a particular URL in the main forum, do not start a new thread in a subforum: keep using your existing thread and a moderator will move the thread to the appropriate subforum.
- Adult sites (submissions to Adult) must be discussed in the Adult forum. You can request a password to access the forum here.
- Sites which have no content in English (submitted to one ot the World categories) should preferably be discussed in the appropriate language forum.
- Wait at least one month after you last (not first time) submitted your site to start a thread here asking about its status.
- Wait at least six months after getting a status update from an editor about your submission before asking for the next status update.
- If you're coming back to get an update on the status of your site, please do not start a new thread. Reuse the original thread you started. It would probably help if you bookmarked the thread the first time around.
- Keep in mind that editors cannot reveal certain information due to confidentiality issues mentioned in the ODP Editor Guidelines.
- If your site has been rejected, please keep in mind that arguing about the editorial decision will not be tolerated. Please note that at the bottom of the "add URL" screen it says "Netscape and the ODP have unfettered editorial discretion to determine the structure and content of the directory" and "a site's placement in the directory is subject to change or deletion at any time"
- This forum is not intended for site analysis or spam accusations. Please avoid discussing any aspect of the site except its submission status. "Rejected and not likely to be accepted anywhere" is a reasonable status.
- Before posting any additional questions to your status request please read the FAQ.
- We understand that editors and other members are often trying to be helpful, but in our experience discussions about site design or spam detection often take a hostile turn. So, please, send constructive criticism about site design and contents directly to the submitter via e-mail or private messages; please send information on suspected spammish or abusive listings to the meta-editors.
