You're absolutely correct. Authors belong in Arts/Literature/Authors.

Two sites that were there sent to letter subcategories of Arts/Literature/Authors/Horror and a relcat added to Arts/Movies/Genres/Horror instead.

Perhaps you would like to become the editor of Arts/Literature/Authors/Horror/M? That's a nice small category to start with - and if you add some sites about McCammon, you could even create a new subcategory for him. <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

If you get accepted as an editor, then you can apply for additional categories once your first category is in ship-shape.

Once you are an editor, there are "fast-track" methods you can use to get quicker access to other small categories. Once we know you can do decent work, we'll want to get as much out of you as we can. (Modus operandi for a volunteer organization, right?)
For instance, if there is no category for "P.D.Q. Bach", you could build one in your editor bookmarks (starting the minute you were accepted to the, say, "Michael Weiss" category), and then ask for it to be moved into public view.
You can also take part in editor discussions of pseudo-classical and/or ancient music, thus displaying a breadth of knowledge and consummate eloquence that we can't so easily see in ordinary, potentially pseudonymous, editor applications.
And you can see where help is needed, and show a willingness to help that will encourage us to give quickly you all the dirty jobs, including "Arts/Bands and Artists/Britney Spears/Fan Pages/Illiterate" or "Business/Industries/Construction/Spackling and Griping."

Hutcheson points to a forum that is only available to editors, I'm afraid. There is an internal editors only forum on the dmoz.org site.
Just in case you thought otherwise (humour doesn't always travel across international boundaries) Hutcheson was joking about being given categories like that. Editors volunteer for whatever they feel like editing, not the other way around. There is an internal list of places where help is wanted, so its always appreciated if someone volunteers for one of those, but by no means is any such thing actually required [Just to set the record straight for anyone who may have misread the humour in Hutchesons post].
[General Note: By the way: Mentioning any Resource Zone threads that you have participated in, when applying to be an editor, does make your application just a tiny bit less anonymous; that is why it can sometimes be a good idea to do so].

I understood that Hutcheson was joking, and I hope that my (lol) Graemlins showed that I was also joking about heading for the door.
I guess I will have to display my "eloquence" through my posts to the forums. If I were an editor, I rather doubt I would be found in "classical" as my tastes are definitely contemporary (i.e., Stephen King, John Jakes, James Clavell, Robert Jordan, Orson Scott Card--to only name a few).

Congrats! Be sure to check out the 'New Editors Forum' and a few others near the top of the list; have a look through the last few weeks postings, as these will answer some questions you have. Try the forum search, editor resource zone, and guidelines, over the coming days and weeks, if you need some information, and if it doesn't seem to be available then stick a question into the forum somewhere. Most questions have been asked before, but no-one really minds if you ask again in the New Editors Forum, 'cus you may not have found your way round the place yet!
