Banned Sites ???

Hi folks.

I'm curious about how one would go about learning whether or not one's site has been banned from DMOZ. I've been informed by others in my company that our site has been submitted several times over the course of the past few years and, while I realize that a DMOZ submission may take quite a long time to appear, I'm beginning to wonder if we are simply waiting for something that will never happen.

Please advise.

Thank you PVGOOL for the prompt reply.

Prior to the most recent submission attempt of SportsbookReview.com to the category "Games/Gambling/Sports/" in July of this year, I did indeed study the DMOZ guidelines, FAQs and any other resources I could find on site that would address the issue of our site's suitability for listing. It was my determination that our site did indeed meet the criteria laid forth. And, after browsing the category, I felt that SportsbookReview.com was as relevant a resource or more so than the other sites listed within that category.

After my submission, the owner of the company mentioned that a previous webmaster had unsuccessfully submitted the site at a much earlier date. I'm sorry that I can't be more precise as I'm new to this company and am not entirely "tuned in" to the actions of previous employees. However, to the best of my understanding, the site has not been "over submitted".

While I certainly realize that it is extremely premature to be judging a submission made in July 2005, my concern is that, should our site have been previously placed on "banned" status, we may be waiting months or years for a decision that might have been made automatically at the time of submission, to wit, that SportsbookReview.com was banned/deleted upon submission.

So, my intention with this thread is to simply gain an understanding into the "banning" process and, hopefully, to determine whether or not this is the case with our particular site. And, if for whatever reason our site was indeed banned in the past, it would be helpful to know this moving forward so that measures can be taken immediately to rectify the cause(s).

Again, I apreciate any comments or feedback that may shed some light on this issue.

Best Regards,

We don't discuss our defence mechanisms - either generally or with regard to a specific website.

This being so, I might as well close the thread :D .
