Hi DMOZ Senior Editors
applied to : http://www.dmoz.org/Arts/Literature/Cultural/Native_American/
Name: cherokeegirl
Date applied: June 26, 20012

I have been waiting nearly 2 1/2 months for a response from my Editor Application and I began thinking that if Editors were accepted in a timely manner, we could help DMOZ keep up with the workload. I am eager and ready (retired university librarian and webmaster) to help. Please help me expedite my application. Thanks.

It is waiting evaluation
[153827]

Applications are, like anything in DMOZ, processed by volunteer editors. If they have no time (we had the holiday season on the Northern hemisphere) that the applications will have to wait.
We have hundreds of applications waiting, Giving prefered attention to one is not something we can do. If we give you such preference we will have to give it to all. Which is the same as giving no preference to all.

Hi Cherokeegirl,
unfortunately 2.5 months is nothing - I was declined in December last year, because I chose a category that attracts a lot of spam, which quite rightly is not suitable for a new editor. Unfortunately my second application was declined after about nine months because I hadn't listed every website I've had dealings with in the past (only listing ones which I felt were significant - having worked in software design, I've touched many websites, although the vast majority are insignificant to a DMOZ application). I reapplied a few weeks ago, but again its going to be a waiting game I think. With a lot of spare time on my hands, and good experience with website design, I feel that I'm a perfect candidate to become an editor, and it was my 2012 target. I'm now hoping that I can achieve that aim sometime in 2013, but I'm not holding out much hope - its a tough process! Good luck!

Mel
