I volunteered a while ago to become an editor of this category and I believe my application at the time was denied.
This category does not appear to have an editor and needs serious work. Out of only 38 listings, 3 are dead, 2 are of little or no value, and most of the best sites in this area are missing.
If anyone at DMOZ is interested in getting this section up-to-date, please let me know.

Even without being an editor, you can still submit all those sites to the category from the public side. You should keep three back and use those for your application. By submitting the other sites as well, you will then have something to work with if you are accepted. If you are not accepted the category still gets improved.

How does a new category get created?

(The category would be 'Data Providers', which seperates those that provide simple web quotes from those that provide data for serious investors)
