Can an update request lead to listing removal?

I requested a site to be added. Within a few days it appeared :D

However when I tried to find it using the search option I couldn't, so I navigated to the directory itself. When looking at my listing I realised that my description had nothing that could give you an indication of what the site was about. Virtually all the other listings did.

So, I updated my listing to include something descriptive of the site.

Now the site has gone.

I am assuming that a request to update a site does not remove it, pending review (else anybody could remove anybodies site!)

So I am wandering if they are removed for a short while whilst being processed, like the Editor updates it and re-submits to be added, in that time lapse it is removed pending a refresh?

If not then maybe the editor decided to remove me alltogether?

Which of the 3 option above could it be (or could it be something else?)

I have not mentioned the URL as this is not a request for a submission update (as this would be the wrong forum) but more a general heads up as to what could have happened.

I may just need to wait a bit :)

Regards
Dave

Generally speaking an update does not remove a URL. An update goes in the same place as a new submission and an editor will review it in due course.

As with any listing all sites are subject to re-review at anytime and yes an update can perhaps be one reason why an editor will re-evaluate a site but there are also many other reasons why an editor will drop by. When they do it can be decided that the site was listed in error or perhaps no longer adds the value that it may have added intially. Other sites come along with bigger and better content and can sometime make other sites redundant.

It would be best if you provided the URL as one of many things could have happended. You may be looking into things too much (it may just have been moved to a different category) or yes it may have beed removed for one of many reasons (and there are a lot more than 3).

As for the search it is far from reliable and I would definately refrain from making any assumptions based on its ropey results :)

It was only added a few days ago, so hopefully it is not most of the reasons you gave for it possibly being removed!

Thanks for your response, any further light would be appreciated.

Regretfully the site was indeed listed in error and as a result it was removed once the error was noticed. It is not a site that we would be looking to intentionally list for reasons outlined with the guidelines

Thanks for your response.

Having looked at the guidelines I can't see any reason listed that would warrant non-inclusion, so that is dissapointing.

Just out of curiosity, had I not requested the update would it have stayed?

I hope I didn't annoy the editor by requesting a change only days after he had reviewed and added the site, if I did, I apologise.

(1) It's not reasons for non-inclusion we look for, it's reasons for inclusion. (There's only one reason that counts: lots of unique content.)

(2) No.

(3) No, we're not going to be annoyed by a chance to correct a mistake and improve the directory.

(1) I see your point, when the category already has 81 sites which basically all cover the same topic to varying degrees of in-depthness (is that a word?) then you may as well close the category to new submissions. I mean a 'Wedding Directory' is a wedding directory, a 'Wedding Guide' is a wedding guide. Each site will be unique in it's approach, look and feel and it's general quality, but as you say, the content is basically the same.

(2) Good, I don't have to kick myself!

(3) :)
