Can I ask this

I would like to ask the following, if it is against the forum rules just delete it /images/icons/smile.gif

I want to list a company in the appropriate category that offers web design and SEO services and specializes in the small business and service industries. Which description s more likely to “pass” (without seeing the site I am sure this may be impossible). I did not list the URL because I believe that would be in violation of the forum policies (if this isn’t already).

1) provides web design and optimization services to the small business and service industries. Based in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

2) a full service web design and optimization company specializing in the small business and service industries. Based in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

If this post in any way, shape or form breaks forum rules please delete it and I apologize for my ignorance. /images/icons/smile.gif

Sincerely,
Dave S.

I went ahead and submitted the site to Top: Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: S

You can delete this thread since it probably was not a good question to ask /images/icons/frown.gif
Thanks,
Dave S.

As a rule, we favor the more concise description. So #1 is better. The phrase "full service" doesn't add anything and sounds rather like marketing hype.

Some additional, free, advice for all visitors: Make sure that the title of your submission is your business name, and that you have the business name on top of the homepage as well as in the title tag. Also have full contact info on the front page of your site. (It's surprising how many people publish business sites with no way to find out what the actual name of the business is, or how to get there.)

vmcknight,

Oops, I already submitted with #2 /images/icons/frown.gif
I agree with you that does sound like hype. I am sure when it is reviewed they will edit it. /images/icons/smile.gif
I am learning .......
The editors have always been very fair to me in the past when it comes to site description (they do a much better job than I could).
I want to thank you for your response and information.
Sincerely,
Dave S.

vmcknight,

I also noticed that the category does not have a editor so I could be waiting a long...... time for review /images/icons/frown.gif
I would imagine this category to be pretty busy.

Thanks Again,
Dave S.

There are four active editors for Web Designers, but - good gosh almighty! Whoah! There are a LOT of web designers in the world! And they all want in our directory!

Try Regional: North America: United States: Ohio: Localities: C: Cuyahoga Falls: Business and Economy. You'll probably get in there about six months sooner. (Also, if you have any friends with a burning desire to categorize web designers, please point them this way.)

In addition to describing what your company offers, please include a description of what the website offers, so someone following the link has an idea of what they will find. For your submission to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, you don't need the location, since it will be to that category. Try something like:

Company Name as Title:
Provides web design and optimization services to the small business and service industries. Includes description of services, company background and sample work.

Of course, fill in what you actually have on the website.

vmcknight,

Thanks for your response and suggestion. I will take your advice and try regional first. I can always be listed under the "Business" category in a year or two /images/icons/smile.gif

If my grammer skills were better then they are, I would apply to be an editor at the ODP /images/icons/frown.gif

Thanks Again,
Dave S.

lissa,

Thanks for your reply and informational "tip" on the description etc. I always gain a wealth of information from the editors in this forum.

Thanks,
Dave S.

Then submit directly to the top level of Business & Economy in the Cuyahoga Falls category.

It's okay - you're just the first web designer who has submitted. The editor will add you to that level, like the funeral home site. If some more local web designers submit sites, then the editor will make a special subcategory.

I just want to thank all of you (editors) again for your help. I have been listed (new site) in my "very" regional directory and they did a great job on the description. They really move fast!

Sincerely,
Dave S.
