Can I move my submission?

Hi,

I was hoping someone could advise me. I submitted my site, http://www.ultimate-weight-products.com, on 10/13/03 to http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Nutrition/. I thought that I may not have been listed because I didn't narrow down the category, I submitted my site again to the http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Nutrition/Dietary_Supplements/ section on 12/10/03.

I was wondering if I could move my submission to http://dmoz.org/Sports/Strength_Sports/Bodybuilding/Supplements/, which in hindsight is probably a more suited category for my site anyway.

Is this possible? Or should I resubmit my site to the new category myself? I just wanted to adhere to DMOZ's guidelines, so I thought I would ask if this was appropriate.

I truly appreciate all the hard work that all the editors do :) Thank you for your time.

If the main point of the site is shopping, as the title suggests, then it would be considered for listing (if at all) only in shopping (or, if there is a walk-in storefront, also in Regional/.../Chino Valley.)

Chino Valley, huh? My aunt retired and moved there. Definitely a narrow spot in the road: but when I lived in Phoenix, any time from May to October Chino Valley looked like Paradise.

Hi hutcheson,

LOL, what a small world! Sheesh, we just got our 3rd traffic light a couple of years ago.... stones throw of a town, but you are right... paradise compared to Phx in summer!

No, this town would not support such a "walk-in storefront"; my site is online only. Therefore, would not want to be in the regional directory.

To be honest, I was hoping to move my submission to a category that had an editor. Is that possible? I was also thinking about the http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Health/Nutrition/Sports_Nutrition/Supplements/ category for my listing. Could we move my submission there? Or could I resubmitt to that cateogry?

And tell your Aunt howdy "we're probably neighbors" :D

Don't worry about "listed editor". Most categories don't have one. Anyone who can edit in the parent category can edit there (and so on); and there are "editalls" who can edit any category. (Most edits are done by someone who's NOT the listed category editor.) And if something is submitted to the wrong category, the first thing that will happen to it is, after however long a wait for review, it will be ... moved CLOSER to the RIGHT category -- to wait to be moved or reviewed again.

The problem is not directly the lack of an editor either. It's the very large number of doorway or affiliate spam sites in that general area, and the difficulty of distinguishing the ones with unique content. So it's liable to be a slow process wherever it starts.

Thanks again hutcheson!

I guess I will have to grow some patience :D I just would be ever so grateful to have my site listed soon....

I just figured that since the categories that I had submitted to didn't have an editor, that could be the reason for the delay. It is comforting to know that it isn't the case.

Thanks again!

Julie
