Can I resubmit a vanity site?

I was told that my site:
http://pumpkinpatchcreation.com is classified as a vanity site. I am currently working on making that site a full working site hopefully up and running this week. My question is do I need to resubmit this site, since it will be totally different now, or is there some type of rule against submitting a site that was previously a vanity site?

Wait until you have completed building content into the site. Don't submit until it's complete. When you do submit, explain in the description that the content has changed significantly since it was last reviewed. Make sure it has!

I recommend submitting an "Update" instead of just resubmitting it.

To do this, go to the category it was originally submitted, and click on "Update URL". As stated above, be sure to state that it no longer is a redirect.

I believe the site is not listed. In that case you can't use an update as raggedyrugs suggests. The advice of John Caius is good and could work.

I would suggest your best bet would be to give the description you want. A good one that follows the guidelines. Change the title. Here's an example:

REFORMED SITE: Pumpkin Patch Creations - (or whatever the title is. I haven't actually looked at your site.)

The ALL CAPS are against guidelines and we will strip them out of course, but it will alert editors to the fact that the site has changed significantly.

OK, my site is finally finished and I am ready to either re-submit or update. The question is which one do I need to do???
I am listed in the directory with the URL:
http://www.baskweb.com/store/home_3.asp?mscid=21022027700000000000000107

this is my old site that will be gone in 2-3 months.

My new URL (http://www.pumpkinpatchcreation.com), which I origionally submitted, but it was actually a vanity URL is now my new website.
The two sites have the same products on them, but are not mirrored sites.
What should I do?

What you should do is add a "visit our new home" link from the old site to the new site, add a 301-site-permanently-moved status if at all possible (it may not be possible in this case) and submit an "Update URL" request.

By our use of the term, this is EXACTLY what we mean when we say "mirror" site. (You must have meant that the URLs are not "aliases.")

But if both URLs are yours, and you're trying to move from one to the other, whether they are aliases or mirrors is not an issue. We just need to be able to identify which is the "true" name (if they are aliases) or which is the "preferred" site (if they are mirrors). That's where the 301 and/or "forwarding address" on the old page helps. Without that, we can't in general tell whether it is a "moved site" or a "plagiarized site that's trying to steal the ODP listing", hence our policy of always checking the OLD URL to make sure that it in fact verifies the fact of a new address.

Thank you Hutcheson. I have made a note on my old site that we have a new home, but I do not have control over anything except images, so I was not able to add a link to redirect to my new site.
Would you suggest asking the hosts of my old site to add a 301?

There is no need to do more at this point. I changed the listing to http://www.pumpkinpatchcreation.com as I have been working in that area, am the one who orignally listed your site and orginally denied the update. The old site clearly states the url of your new site and points to http://www.pumpkinpatchcreation.com as being the main address now. The change will take effect as soon as the public side updates. Due to the server upgrades the public side is taking longer to update and we are unsure when that will happen.

Sorry, but no...according to guidelines the current description was appropriate. That cat is hard, it shouldn't include the words "gift" or "basket" (I know some do, they are being changed if/when possible) which is difficult in this instance. I wish I could remember what the update said, but the current desc. stated more specifically the themes sold on the site and I think the update stated general holidays or something that the baskets could be used for? Sorry, inlaws coming to town and I'm brain dead (and off on my way to clean again) . If you can come up with something more specific according to what you carry (I know some other sites have desc. like that but it is usually because nothing specific comes out and so much of the baskets are pretty general in a lot of ways) you can always resubmit again Good luck.
