Hi!

I submited one my website about a year ago to http://dmoz.org/World/Latvian/Māksla_un_kultūra/
and it's still not here (I am shure that my site belongs to this category).

Now I submited another website, and it's still not listed anywhere on dmoz.org.

Could you plz check if an editor for that category is still alive?

How long should I expect for some response in this category?

Yesterday I also applied as an editor to that category, because looks like I am not the only one who tries to post something to that section, but I don't know how long should I wait for an answer if I am approved.

A most gentle suggestion: a perusal of the FAQ documents will answer your questions, and the FAQ item dealing with category editors applies even if the editor is dead. :D :D :D

There have been a few cases when the community found out that an editor (or close relative) had died. But ... often we don't have that information. And if we had the information, it would be a breach of confidentiality -- not to mention a breach of the law in some countries -- to make it public.

The dead, and their families, deserve no less. The living editors, who might otherwise be victims of whatever malicious, violent, or treacherous act some stupidly, maliciously desperate submitter might be planning -- also deserve no less.

Wouldn't then be useful for editors to display just a username or nickname in their editor's profile? Some have their real name/last name listed there.

I never thought about the possibility that an editor could actually have some problem should his/her real name be known to submitters, ESPECIALLY in regional or even more specific categories. That's actually scary.

It is up to each individual editor himself howmuch information is displayed in their profile.

Or in some cases there could be a problem if his/her real name was known to his/her government.

Oh you are right - and this is even scarier - for example in all those countries that apply censorship to exert political control over their citizens.
