can't apply to a new category

I'm already an editor but wanted to become an editor for a different category. I clicked on the "Request to be editor for another category" link and filled out the whole form, but when I tried to submit it, I got a message that said "node path is invalid." I also tried by going to that category and clicking the "edit" link on the bottom of the page, but got a message saying "User '(my username)' has no authority to 'geturlsubmission' on node '/(category)". I have no idea what either of these messages mean. Anyone know any reasons why it doesn't seem to want to let me even apply?

Editors should ask questions like this on the internal forum.
The first option you used is the correct one but you should enter the category path in url format (with / and _) not in the text format (with ; copy it form the url field of your browser into the form.
