Can't decide on a category

I've been searching all through the directory and I really can't seem to find a category which pertains to my subject matter. I have a site http://www.roaringwomen.com which I am trying to submit. It is a /computer/business type website, but it is not a business directory but rather an online networking website... Also there is radio, and a magazine on it.

Should I just submit to /computers/business ?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.

Just pick the lowest level category that it seems to fit in -- an editor will move it if it belongs somewhere else.

Same issue

Hi -

I have a similar issue. I would like to submit the URLs from the company I started building a website for. Scabal is a wholesaler and retailer in fabrics used for clothing, mainly with natural fibres. I have checked where competitors are subscribed and have found 4 different categories in which they are located. Competitors such as Zegna, Holland&Sherry and Loro Piana are located in those... The company I work for is currently maintaining 2 sites : www.scabal.com, a globally used site and www.scabal.us, a US specific site finished within 2 weeks.

For scabal.com I would need to choose from:
1. Business - Textiles and Non wovens - Textiles - Fabrics - Wholesale & distribution
2. Business - Textiles and Non wovens - Industrial yarns & sewing threads - Natural blends - Wool
3. Business - Textiles and Non wovens - Textiles - Resources
4. Shopping - Clothing - Natural fibre

For scabal.us I only have:
Regional - North America - United States - Business & Economy - Shopping

as best option, although our wholesale activity in US is the biggest part...

How do I decide on which category is best?

Thanks!

Only submit the .com site, never submit the .us site. Submit to the most appropriate business/ category. Do not submit to shopping, a quick glance at your site indicates that it is not qualified for such a listing.

You might be eligible for a Regional listing at your hadquarters locations -- but without an address on the website, that probably won't happen.

p.s. -- on a personal note, it is exceedingly annoying to have a website that automatically starts playing music.

Thanks

Hey Spectegunner. Thanks for the quick and accurate reply!
I will go for nbr 1 for the .com site and accept that our competitors are in other directories (too).
We do have an office in New York for administration purpose only, so thank for the remark about the address, because our clients don't need it as all transactions for them go through a distributor, I wasn't going to put it on...
I fully agree with the music !! I'm only responsible for the www.scabal.us site and all projects related but I thank you for reminding me that my colleagues aren't as good as me ;)

No, you absolutely do not ever have a right to be in a category just because someone who competes with you is!

They may be in a category because (taking all their business, even the trivial 99% of it where you do not compete with them), that's the best category.

You're in a category because it seemed to the editor to be the best place for the company as a whole, including the aspects of the business where there is no competition, and the aspects where global mining conglomerates compete.

Find the best category for YOUR site.
