I have tried several submission over the past number of years and have never been able to get my site listed in United States: Travel and Tourism: Lodging: Cabins. There are 4 other sites on that page that are similar to mine so I hoped that it could go there.

I noticed on the bottom of the page that it has been 2 1/2 years since the page was touched.

Last update: 10:26 PT, Wednesday, January 10, 2007

I did try to volunteer to be an editor but when my application was scored I realized that it was much more than what I would want to do. I'd rather be honest and not fudge my way through just so I could submit my own site.

So now, is there something else I can do?

It is very rare that sites will be lsited in that category. (which explains the last update date).
Only websites about cabins across the whole of the USA (or at least large parts, a number of States) will be listed there.
Websites about single cabin accomodations will be listed in the category of the location of that accomodation.

I do not know what your website is (and neither do I want to know as we do not discuss indiviual websites here at R-Z). The above is just a general answer which could explain why your site is not listed yet.

'Cant get listed in:United States: Travel and Tourism: Lodging: Cabins'

I believe that submitting my site at that level was the best choice.

The site I am submitting currently has over 5,000 cabins spread over all 50 states. I have recently added features that allow the user to also search by special features such as 'Bagnell Dam' or 'Mount Rushmore'. then they are presented all of the cabins within 25 miles of that feature. Because of the additional features (falls, parks, cities, dams, forests etc.) the site has over 50,000 pages. It uses Google maps to help display the features and cabins so users can get an idea of where the cabin is in relation to the feature they searched for. So after all that. It's much more than a single cabin site.

Basic listings on the site are free for the cabin owner. They can opt for an enhanced listing that will put them at the top of the pages for their state and city.

Does that help describe it?

If you have suggested your site once to the single most appropriate category, there is nothing more you need to do. Please do not send repeated suggestions, which is not only pointless but wastes everyone's time.

Editors are free to look wherever they like for worthwhile sites, and at some stage someone might look in the collection of sites awaiting review in that category. But of course there is no knowing who or when that may be, as reviewing suggestions is not a priority, and the ODP is not a listing service.
However, thank you for making your site easier to find for someone interested in building that category. :)

You need to submit your website to one suitable category than remaining work will be done by the administration and if you keep sending them suggestion repeatedly that would be useless....
