Captcha doesn't appear

I have been prevented from submitting my site to the open directory for about a month now because the captcha code facility is broken. No captcha image appears at all because the domain https://captcha.aol.com/ where the captcha image is supposed to be hosted times out. Since no captcha appears, I can't submit.

The page that I am trying to submit my site to is in a Japanese category (and so the submit details page is also in Japanese):

http://www.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi?where=World/Japanese/地域/ヨーロッパ/イギリス/ガイドとディレクトリ

Does this forum have access to dmoz developers that can fix this?

Thank you,

Paul

PS: Thanks budalata for pointing me to this forum.

The captcha image (a jpeg) shows up fine for me when I click on that link.

If it still doesn't work for you, what happens if you try from a different computer?

If it still fails and you're on Broadband, what happens if you try from somebody else's computer on a different ISP or through a dial up account?

These are the sorts of questions that AOL's techies will ask so we might as well get them out of the way now :).

Hi there.

We have broadband here. I have tried with several computers on the same broadband connection and the image doesn't show. I see it works fine for other people though. I'll try from a different location with a different broadband connection and service provider tomorrow.

It's very strange. I assumed that if I couldn't see it, no one would be able to see it, not expecting that something/one could be blocking the connection to https://captcha.aol.com/ for me but not others.

Thanks for your help. I'll let you know if I get it to work...

Update...

Just to let you know, the captcha worked when I tried from a different location and I have just submitted my site! Thanks, I would never have thought to try a different internet connection.

I still don't know why it's blocked on my own internet connection. If anyone from dmoz is interested in helping me debug this and needs more information about my internet connection, feel free to send me an email.

Cheers,

Paul
