Hi all,

I have joined this forum to find out a bit more information about the casino category, hopefully you can shed some light on this for me.

Firstly, why are no more sites aloud to be submitted? Is this due to there being no editor? Or high levels of spam? I understand DMOZ certainly doesn't need to give users the chance to submit there site but it is very frustrating that competitors are listed and even though I feel I could add a better offering to the category it won't allow me to.

Secondly, the casino category is broken down into software operators, inside these categories you can submit a new site. The software used with online casino I manage is not listed however. Is there any way to get this added as a category given they are a reputable provider?

Last question, given the way the online casino world has changed over recent years do you not think that the category would be best broken down into 'live dealer casinos' and 'RNG' (Random number generator) casinos. There is a huge difference between the two.

Let me know your thoughts when possible, hopefully my questions/suggestions are welcome.

Kind Regards,
Dave

Categories are closed for suggestions if we do not list websites in that category (websites should be suggested in children categories or categories represented by an @link).
Editors can decide to list websites in categories closed for suggestions.
Categories can also be closed when a large reorganisation is being executed.

I guess you are speaking about http://www.dmoz.org/Games/Gambling/Casinos/Browser_Based/
I do not know why this cat is closed.
Suggest your site to one of its subcats and add a note in the description that the site is using non-listed software. An editor will take the neccesary actions to list the site in the most appropriate category.

I would not know as I do not know what these two types mean. Maybe an gambling expert editor will read this thread (although the chances are small this will happen).

Like pvgool, I have no idea why suggestions to that category is closed. However as suggested, submit your suggestion to a sub cat, or failing that a higher cat.

Suggest the site in question to the http://www.dmoz.org/games/gambling/casinos category regardless.

The vast majority of online casinos utilise a Random Number Generator. However, if the number of listable live dealer casinos becomes sufficient, then in all likelihood a category will be created to house said sites. If and when this will happen though depends on a number of factors, including an editor dedicating enough time in this area.

Many online casinos which have a RNG, also offer a live dealer casino, so in this instance, they would be listed in the appropriate software category and there would not be a need to list their additional live dealer site.
