I was just curious, if a catagory has the statement at the bottom "Volunteer to edit this catagory" does this mean there is no current editor for that catagory? If so what is the process of a site being reviewed in that catagory if there is no current editor?

Almost all such categories have editors on the parent level [or above] and there are a number of editors who can review sites directorywide.

Volunteer to edit this category means that the ODP will accept new editor applications to that category.

The review process is the same for all categories.

Yes, or rather it means no editor has been especially assigned to this category.

As per reply of wrathchild.

Actually this is incorrect. In general editors are recommended to apply for categories with fewer than 100 or even 50 sites.

I think he meant "will accept new editor applications" in the sense of the fact that people can actually submit an application to such a category, not that they should or that we will approve them automatically. After all, "accepting applications" just means that you can apply, not that you'll get through. :)
