categories with no editor? Will submissions ever be reviewed?

So can someone tell me how this works? If the most specific category for my site has no editor then what happens? Do I work backwards thru the string until I find a category less specific that has an editor?

Our FAQ does a superior job of addressing this issue.

Something I don't think is said explicitly in the FAQ: Don't suggest your site to a less specific or less relevant category because there is a named editor there. It will create more work for the editors and in almost every case it will cause the review process to take longer.
