Hi

My site http://www.olga.co.za use to be a ppc search engine based in South Africa and was listed in dmoz under http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Africa/South_Africa/. It didn't really worked out so I changed the site to an international travel directory. I applied a while back to change the site to a more appropriate category http://www.dmoz.org/Recreation/Travel/Guides_and_Directories/. I see is been removed from the original category but doesn't seem to appear anyway else. Could somebody please give me an update?

Thanks
Marian

I've checked your site and it appears you are using descriptions for sites that are listed in ODP. You have taken the descriptions that editors here have created [Including sites that I have reviewed for ODP] and are using them without the correct attribution.

Your site is in violation of the terms of use of ODP data and will not be listed anywhere in ODP unless you fix this issue. You might expect to get contacted regarding this. :(

Hi Bobrat

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I honestly didn't mean to do that. I'm not sure how many pages you had a look at but, I assure you that on most of the pages (the actual directory) there was the link to http://dmoz.org/. You right though - on some of them (the static pages) the link wasn't there. Is fixed now. I hope you can forgive me and reconsider my original request.

I'm not the one who deals with this. But the problem seems to be:

for example http://www.olga.co.za/travel/directory/Middle_East/Middle_East.html

at the bottom of the page - Become an Editor

links to http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/apply.cgi?where=$cat

here and everywhere you have $cat - you must link to the actual category

Thanks Bobrat

I'm not really sure how to do that properly but I'll have a look at the sugested site and try fix the issue. My site follows the ODP main structure but I changed a bit the categories. I'll first figure out how the link works. I'll keep you updated.

Thanks again

Hi Bobrat

I can't figure out how to do this properly. The main issue is that my sub-categories are different and the fact that I'm not really a programmer. I found a different site (they seem to be well estabilished) that links in a different way - http://www.travel-directory.org/Lodging/Hotels_and_Motels/index.html . If in your opinion you think that is good enough I'll be able to make the change myself but if not I'll get a proper programmer to do the change.

Thanks

Sorry, you'll have to wait for someone else to tell you what is ok or not.

I looked some more and other parts of the site your mentioned are in my opinion, in violation of attribution rules.

Hello Bobrat

I'm back. It took me a bit longer than anticipated but I managed to find a good programmer that fixed the issue. By the way, if anybody has a simillar problem please PM me and I'll give you the details. Is fast and very inexpesive.

Bobrat I will appreciate if you could take a look again and advice on the next step I need to take.

Thanks
