Is there any way to know if someone is actually editing listings for this particular category: Top: Business: Energy and Environment: Consulting?

Or do all the editors pool their resources and edit whatever listings are submitted for review?

I was just wondering, as I've submitted my listing and feel we have a very good site and have tried to list in the proper category?

Thanks for your help!

No, not even the DMOZ editors know if and who will be editing in a category in the near future. We only know who have done so in the past. But having edited in a category yesterday does not mean the same person will also do so today or tomorrow.

No. They edit where and what they personaly prefer at that moment.

OK, you have done all you can do. Thanks for helping us being able to find a good site. The next thing that will happen is that an editor will look at the suggestion and decide if the site is listable according to DMOZ guidelines. Because of the way DMOZ works we are not able to predict who this editor will be and when this will happen.

And sometimes yes. There are about 200 editors who are able to edit anywhere they feel like, and which areas are in greatest need may factor in to that decision. However, it's misleading to think about things in the terms your suggesting, since there are plenty of public suggestions to go round. Also, editors are encouraged to find new sites on their own, and don't have to refer to the pool of sites suggested by members of the public.

We're to build a useful directory, rather than to just to review suggested sites. The pool of suggested sites is often useful in helping us meat that goal, but at the same time there's also a lot of junk suggested by people who didn't bother to read the instructions properly.

Ouch...I hope you weren't insuating that "I'm suggesting JUNK...and didn't read the instructions properly."?? If that's the case... That wouldn't be a good thing!

I don't think that was directed at you Joanner, rather to be explain why the pool of suggested sites is not always the ideal place to find quality sites.

With no exageration we get things like
cgfdfkhcjg.com - good site thanks
as a suggestion - I don't get it because not only are they a waste of time, but the links are to non existant urls, so the suggestor gets no benefit anyway. what type of drugs are they taking?

Geez...I just re-read my post. I promise that the site does not contain typos such as "insuating" which should have read "insinuating" You got the jest!

I guess I was just being too sensitive! Thanks for easing my worries!
