Hi

My site has recently been added to the directory.

I've noticed that it appears to show in a different category to the one I submitted.

Original category selected was:

http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Business_Services/Physical_Asset_Management/

Actual Category my site is in:

Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Business and Economy: Business Services: Customer Asset Management .

can someone tell me whether it's possible to request my site's inclusion in the original category? Or whether I have to resubmit

Regards

Rob

If the site is listed somewhere else, then the editor that listed it must have believed, from what they read ON the site, that the place they actually liste it is a better place for it to be.

Hi Giz

Thanks for the info.

I'm very happy to be included in the site, and can see that the editor has found another suitable category. However, I feel my site fits better in the original category, because that's where all of my direct competitors are. The category which the edititor has selected is more suited to facilities-type asset compaies, where as my company is focussed on assets such as equipment.

Can I request someone takes a second look. or would you reccommend I re-submit to try to get my preferred category?

Regards

Please do not re-submit. You can use "update listing" at the top of the category your site is listed to request a change. Its possible it could end up in the unreveiwed pool in another category, waiting againg to be reviewed. Or nothing may be done.

Please note that a Regional listing does not preclude listing in a topical category as well. There's no reason to suppose that your site won't be considered for both.

Something that many editors do is pass a "copy" of a site along to the Regional editors. different pool, different criteria, different editors, could be wildly different times-to-review.

spectregunner make a very good point. For example, I have a [topical] category that I help out in, it's quite backlogged, and it's quite difficult assessing whcih submitted sites belong there, so it may be a long delay before they are reviewed.

However, I have prereviewed a lot of those sites, and sent a copy to the proper Regional category - many of those sites get reviewed and accepted in Regional very quickly.

From the site owners view, it looks to him that the site was rejected from the [topical] category he submitted it to and moved instead to Regional - whereas in the long run the site will probably be listed in both places.
