It is correct that particular subcategory has not been edited in since January. If you provide your url someone can check on your site's status.

It shows your site was just submitted on 17/May/2003 14:28:43 MDT. If you are resubmitting, new submissions overwrite old ones which can add to the time it takes for a site to be reviewed if the editor who does the reviewing sorts by submission date. There is no need to submit again.

Your site is waiting with under a dozen other sites, but it is important to note that this is just one letter of the alphabar. You may come back in a month if you don't see your site listed, but please use this same thread when doing so.

Ah. Thank you. Wasn't aware of the re-queing. Yes, I've been resubmitting the site several times over the last few months because it just wasn't getting posted. Thought I was doing something wrong. Glad to know I wasn't.
However, I have to wonder if it'll be any closer in a month seeing as the category hasn't even been updated (and I would assume looked at)in 6 months!

It may be closer in a month, and then it again it may not. Unfortunately it is impossible to tell when an editor will decide to work on that particular letter of the alphabar--and even if they do there are many options. Also, editors can sort from above and work on every letter of the alphabar from the higher category and sort the sites several different ways. Because there are so many variables, it is impossible to know when someone will look at your site. If it were me, I would give it a few months and come back. Guidelines for this forum ask that you wait one month at least, so it is up to you. Good luck.

I'm noticing this category still hasn't been updated? Any news?

Well is it posible to notify the editor of that category or something? I'm sure there must be others that are waiting for this category too. I mean it has been 7 months since the last category update.

Yes, and there are several hundred other categories that are probably being "waited on" too.

Posting here is not intended to be a way to get sites listed any faster - it is a way to enquire about the status.

I understand your frustration, but we are all volunteer editors. None of us are paid to do anything. Therefore editors will edit as their time and interests allow.

I don't mean any disrepect, and I do understand that DMOZ is run by volunteers, my point was it just seemed like this length of time for any category update on DMOZ is rather unusual.

Seven months for a wait to be listed "isn't" unusual if the category doesn't attract interested editors.

There are many, many others that have been waiting for two or three times that long!!!

We don't like it either, but so many editors can only do so many things before we get behind.

My own estimate (based on the number of sites added per day, the number of submittals waiting review, and the percentage of submittals that are unlistable) is that the _average_ waiting time is about three months. But there's no single queue that you can work your way up through; there are separate heaps for each category. So a general rule isn't worth anything: some sites get listed within minutes of submittal; others have been waiting since 2001.

Nobody can predict the waiting time for any site, except the editor who's about to review it, and he's not here posting -- he's over there reviewing. Nor can we promise anything. We can only say that a mere six months' wait _doesn't_ mean you're being singled out for special delays.
