category suggestion

I would like to suggest my site to DMOZ but the closest i can get to a relevant category is:

there is no sub category for the state of NEW YORK. Can one be created so i may add my site to a relevant category without being penalized?

You'll notice that the state 'categories" in http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_...Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/Inspections/ all have @ symbols after them. Those are called @links and they point to categories that exist elsewhere in the directory, not subcategories of the category you're looking at.

In Regional, sites are listed geographically first and then into the appropriate (or nearest appropriate) topical category. Inspectors would generally be listed in the locality where the business is physically located, not at the state level. So, find your locality in http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/New_York/Localities/ and then navigate down through that locality category to the locality's Business and Economy category, if one exists, and then to the Real Estate subcategory of that category, if it exists, and then suggest your site.

There is no inspection category, so i suggested it at this level.

Just suggest it in that category.
An Inspection category will only be created when enough sites are available in the directory.

Also suggesting four of your NYC competitors' websites should be enough to swing it .

You are wrong!

I have been trying to suggest a few sites (under Spain, Italy, France, and Portuigal) but the Category does not exist for these countries but in this case: http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Law/Services/Dispute_Resolution/Service_Providers/Europe/ and also for Process Servers, and is funny since Germany is listed with 0 sites and UK with one site, but Spain, France, Italy and Portugal are not!!! and I want to list!!! Please help me!!!

Just suggest your site to the parent category and we'll list it there (if listable). We'll only create the subcategory if/when we get enough similar ones.

...and please note that is it "your site" (singular). Several related sites for the same law firm will not be listed, as stated in the submission guidelines. When suggesting a site to the ODP you agree to comply with these guidelines.
