Hi there all -
I applied to become an editor of the "Pseudomynous Epistles" section of the Early Christian Writings category:
http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Church_History/Early_Christian_Writings/Pseudonymous_Epistles/
However, I have actually made a number of submissions of texts to that particular section (and others) from a website I adminstrate over:
http://www.comparative-religion.com
specifically from the section:
http://www.comparative-religion.com/christianity/apocrypha/
I'm not sure if the submissions will invalidate my application for that particular area, so I would like to ask for advice, if I may:
Q/ Does having submitted pending material to a category invalidate application to said category, on the grounds of a perceived "conflict of interest", even where the sites/pages in question are non-commericial?
If so, should I perhaps ask for my application to be tranferred to another subcategory within the Early Christian Writings section? Or should I simply make a new application for a new category?
I have only submitted 1 text to the Gospel of Thomas category, but, again, would the submission invalidate my editorial application?
http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Church_History/Early_Christian_Writings/Gospel_of_Thomas/
Or, perhaps, I should narrow it to a particular area I have not submitted to but is closely related? For example:
http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Church_History/Early_Christian_Writings/Poetry/
I realise that to some my questions may seem a little strange, but I have read the guidelines that suggest that new editors should only apply for small categories. And Apocryphal Christian writings is a topic that particularly interests myself, hence why I'm applying to that specific section. Ideally, I would be interested in taking a much wider role in the religion category itself over time.
However, please appreciate that I would rather make a correct application, and am quite unsure as to whether a real "conflict of interest" may be perceived where an application is made for a section where self-submissions are already pending.
Best regards,
Brian
