I am trying for the 10th or so time to post this. cant seem to get it to work...soemthing about my host being wrong.

All I want to do is check the status of my site submission.
I submitted a few weeks ago

AHA! it was the AOL browser that was the problem host! going to IExplorer helped...

(Correct URL path: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Food/Gifts/Baskets/ - ODP category paths are usually case-sensitive. Oh - and you should have started the thread with subject being the URL of your site, but I'm sure if a moderator/administrator sees this they'll try and make any minor adjustments they can. It's just that if someone else posts with "hi... trying again" or similar, then the threads may get confused - but URLs should be relatively unique. Oh - it may also be a good idea to remove (if you still can) you email address from your post: if an editor needs it, they'll ask for it [usually via private message] - if it's just sitting there, then it could be picked up by any email-trailing bot on the net - and you'll probably end up getting spammed).

Ok - down to the nitty-gritty now that the Unreviewed queue to that category has loaded. You site is awaiting review in that category with under 200 other sites (but more than 150). It could be some time before your site is reviewed - sorry <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

Feel free to come back to THIS thread (i.e. do not start a new thread) in about a month's time if you want to know if there has been any progress.

As you are based in a locality, you can also submit there

Regional listings are quite often faster than the large Topical listings. (You can be listed in both a Regional and Topical if you meet the requirements for both - Regional you must have an address and/or offer something to the local community (employment,shopfront,manufacturing plant); Shopping you must sell stuff, have someway to order, and an acceptable delivery area)

The search engine spiders have a hard time crawling dynamic urls so I don't think an email harvestor will be able to. I ran this software for 3 years on my programming forum and never one time did any email address ever get picked up. And every profile has an email link. Don't you think that if 20,000 plus emails are listed on the profile pages someone would have tried to harvest them? I think so, but, it never happened. Maybe in the future their will be a way for one of the spam programs to get info from dynamic pages, but, until that happens your email is secure when posted here.
I will edit it out of this one because the site owner mailed me and asked me to.

I figured out the posting problem...it was the firewall.
I would like to know how the submission for my site is going...
at one time there were over 150 ahead of me...

I sell various products on the site and although gift baskets were what I was basing my site on there are many other things for a different cat. that are on there....how do I go about submitting to a new cat and give up on the old one?

Since your site is more general than food, I have moved it to the queue for Shopping/Gifts/Gift_Baskets/C, which is more appropriate - please don't resubmit. There are about a dozen sites waiting and an active editor listed.

Since your business is located in Sumter I would suggest submitting it to http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/South_Carolina/Localities/S/Sumter/Business_and_Economy/ .

yes...someone emailed me to tell me that I may be confused on who actually editted and reviewed...I know oneeye did not review my category....but HE/SHE <img src="/images/icons/confused.gif" alt="" /> did see my long wait posts and my questioning of whether I should reapply to a different category since the basis of my site had changed from ONE type of item to a wide variety since my initial application in October/November...ONEEYE MOVED MY SUBMISSION to a smaller more specific category so as to avoid my having to find a NEW cat to REsubmit to.(I was thanking him/her for THAT action)..and I was rejoicing that I was found and reviewed and approved within a week. I have contacted the REAL editor and thanked him personally....we used to live in his town <img src="/images/icons/grin.gif" alt="" /> so we exchanged pleasantries after he approved me.
