Censorship

An editor closed and removed my post because I was supposedly only complaining about my site not being listed. Therefore, I've removed any references to my previous discussions and my domain. Isn't it ironic that the "Open Directory Project" would support censorship?

This is a valid discussion about the ODP.

My site was rejected due to lack of unique content. After pointing out the unique content on my site (hundreds of new pages per day), I was told, in a rude tone (as noted in almost every forum), how the content was still "not unique."

How is this possible and acceptable? Does being an editor give someone the right to respond in a rude tone? Yes, I read about how some editors have "bad days," etc. and I do not need a link to the FAQ page. However, some editors must have a "bad day" everyday and respond in a negative tone 99% of the time. I'm amazed at the amount of webmasters in this forum just "kissing butt" to try to get a reasonable and helpful response from an editor. Not everyone is out to spam the ODP or something; there's no need for rudeness.

My site has existed since 1997 and I've owned it since 1999. Certainly, my comeptitors have stolen some of my content over the years, but I've gotten over 4,000 new pages within the last month. My content has been stolen in the same way that some unresponsible people use the ODP content on their own websites without crediting the ODP.

Now, I'm guessing that an editor is simply going to be fearful of an open discussion (AGAIN) and close the forum. However, I'd like to hear some editors opinions about this matter.

I can't believe how many editors view this post and are afraid to talk about an actual issue regarding the ODP.

Bobrat,

I appreciate your response. I'm speaking of the post that I made in this forum -- it was deleted.

I thought this specific forum was for general ODP issues. Why don't you attempt to answer a question instead of simply providing a "programmed" response?

Thanks,

Blaine

BTW - I really do appreciate your non-sarcastic response. It's one of the first I've seen.

How is my status post relevant to this discussion? I've dealt with the fact that you're not going to add my site. Why don't we have a general discussion about the ODP and this website? Or are you simply going to reference another post or general guidelines found somewhere on the ODP?

Continued posts on this topic are pointless and against forum rules. I'm closing this thread now - please don't start another one.

Just to clarify for anyone reading this thread -- the original thread was deleted because the member was arguing about their site and ODP policies (much as they are here). This is not the place to do it and they were specifically told to not start up a new thread. Which they did. Multiple times. That doesn't make for happy mods.
