Change request

Hello,

My site, an Italian weblog, is listed under a wrong URL (It's listed under http://www.carloberardelli.com and should be listed under http://www.carloberardelli.com/blog ).

Since the change request was made more than a month ago I would appreciate if somebody could check my request and let me know what's going on (I made the request in Italian as both the category editors are Italian).

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I don't speak Italian (just a little bit) or edit there, so I can't check your update request.

I may be wrong, but it seems you want a deeplink listed, and usually we don't do so. Please read http://dmoz.org/guidelines/site-specific.html#deeplinks

As your site is in Italian it would be better to post your question in the World Italiano forum.

The site is http://www.carloberardelli.com/ , where it is clearly and prominently displayed "Il mio weblog". We prefer to use the main URL of a site (or the highest possible level in the path from which the actual site is accessible).

For this reason, your update request is not likely to be accepted.

>> Going there.

Which won't change my previous statement , but you'll have it posted in Italian in the Italian thread too, for your reading pleasure.

Listen Ettore, if you are in the mood to waste 5 mins of your time, go check the World/Italiano/Computer/Internet/Comunicare/Web_Log category. It's a small category even if the Italian weblog count it's well over 500.

You'll see that a bunch of weblogs listed there are "deep linked". I'd also argue that most of the weblog around are usually run under the www.mysite/blog url.

But it is not my point. I respect your rules even if I don't think they make sense at all, so if it'impossible to list my weblog under its correct url I'd rather prefer to take it out of the directory. Hope it's more clear now, but if you want I can post under the italian thread for your viewing pleasure

PS I've just read your previous answer. I had to put that page with a link to the weblog as a result of the error in the listing, not the other way around. Infact that page will be changed as soon as the listing is fixed.

ciao

I'm obviously missing something here. I do not understand this bizarre insistance on our including this content only as a deeplink?

The converse logic is simple. We prefer to list domains, because we know that, every month, thousands of the sites we list get shuffled around, and we have to go to a lot of work to repair the deeplinks.
We told the doctor, it hurts when we do that. He said don't do that. So we try not to do that.

I think what Brodo is trying to explain is that most blog specific pages are a deep link and that he changed his front page so that anyone expecting to see a blog on the main page would be able to get to his blog. He changed his main page because of the way it was listed in the ODP. Maybe he has other plans for the main URL that doesn't have anything to do with a journal type page, like his blog. Would that make a difference in how his blog page is listed?

Thanks old crone, you got the point (it's easy, isn't it? I HAD to put that page because of the error, I had other plans for that. Now I'll delete the root page so dmoz will be listing a broken link.
