2 days ago I submitted a site but I have since then found a much better and less general category for the site.

Should I resubmit? If I do should I mention the previous submission?

Regards

hutcheson or another editor/mod will no doubt correct me if this is wrong, but I recall seeing cases like this being "advised" to place a comment to category editor in block brackets to ensure that it stands out and they know that it is not part of the description that you're suggestion. [Note to Editor: I screwed up and submitted this to the wrong category top/sub/sub/ category but feel this is more appropriate]

Is this acceptable? Does it help the editor?

That is certainly acceptable, and there's a reasonable chance it'll help the editor. It is a recommendation, not a requirement. If you're thinking along the lines of "how can I best help the editor", then whatever you do will probably be acceptable and even appreciated. And ... we know that many people do not help the editors as much as they might have -- but that's OK.

This isn't Yahoo, where they delete your free submittal out-of-hand merely because it's in the wrong category. This isn't even Zeal, where you have to know how to write a description before submitting your first submittal. It's the ODP, where we get whatever help we can, but take responsibility for the final product.
