Changing Content After Getting a Listing

I am posting here because it is probably a better place to continue discussing submition of my website http://www.loversorfriends.com And I DO have questions about it. I was told that the decision of the editor is final. But what if content of the website changes? Please, explain me what if I suddenly deside to make it for instance a porn site on http://www.loversorfriends.com will in still remain in chats and forums?

What you describe is called "bait and switch." The site would be removed: permanently, probably within hours of the change being noticed, possibly along with any other site associated with any of the same people (proprietors, webmasters, SERP perps, developers, whatever).

Is that fair? This isn't the Final Judgment, this is just the ODP. But if you _are_ thinking about such an approach, you have much more to be concerned about than just a few piddley ODP listings.

of course I am not going to start a port site there neither anywhere else. What I want is to be placed in penpals (instead of chats and forums) section because this is where http://www.loversorfriends.com belong to!

If your general question is whether a site can be moved to another category if its content significantly changes, then the answer is yes. After all, a site should be placed in the most appropriate category, and webmasters are free to update or change content whenever they think it's neccessary and useful.

We can only review sites based on their current content, and concerning that decisions taken by editors are final. We can not review and take into consideration content that will be added in the future.

Webmasters (and others) are welcome to let us know if due to a content change the category where a site is listed is not appropriate any more. That's what the update URL link is for, and there's a field where you can explain the reasons for the update request. The site will then be re-reviewed, and an editor will decide if the request can be accepted or not.

Legitimate update requests are OK. Abusive requests or content changes, like 'bait and switch' described by hutcheson, are not.

you have changed the post title. that's ok, but the matter is that I haven't got a listing yet, my website is still waiting authorization. And my question is can it be moved to "penpals" NOW?

No, not NOW.

And _perhaps_ not EVER. It will go through the usual editor review process. If, based on looking at the site (without ANY input from forums, e-mail, or any other contact with anyone not held responsible for directory quality) the editor feels it would fit some other category better, they can move it.

It's been my experience that if you're trying to convince someone to do something and you're not pointing a gun at them or signing their paycheck, "please" is a much more effective interjection than "NOW".

but anyways, I don't think anything can be done right now and I guess I am to wait when my website goes all the way though that long queue in chats and forums to resubmit it again. And even my please will not help I suppose... <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />

If a "please" in this forum moved a review request to the head of the queue, we'd be getting thousands of "pleases" every day, and we wouldn't have time to do any work on the queue at all. The way to request a site review is to use the dmoz.org "add or update URL" button. That method works VERY efficiently (well, when it works at all <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" /> ). The way to discuss ODP procedures (which are the same for all sites) is to use the forums, which do that best.

"Update URL" only works after a site has been listed. There isn't anything you can do at the moment except wait until the site gets listed (if and whenever that is) and then deal with your options at that point.

I think hutcheson's post was meant to be a general comment and not specific instructions for you.

I was indeed speaking generally, but I see that I used the word "you" both specifically and generically in that post. The pronoun usage was a careless (and I hope, atypical) oversight on my part. I carefully try to avoid doing that, precisely to avoid that kind of confusion.
