Changing domain name www.sunrise-divers.net

R

rzan

Our current web site is
Sunrise Divers
but due to an error by the previous employee, the wrong domain, which we wish to delete, was added :

Incorrect URL

This is listed at :

http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Outdoors/Scuba_Diving/Dive_Travel/Live-aboards/

We do not wish to have any links to .net, since we will be deleting it. I hope it can be changed to .com.

I am not even sure if we are entitled to two listings (regional/topical) - the .com is already at the appropriate regional listing. But I hope this is the case.

Many thanks to motsa to pointing me here from Webmaster World.

Have a good day.

The normal method of doing this is to call up the category, and then to submit an update request by clicking on the "Update URL" hyperlink. Is there a reason this is not working for you, other than the general slowness of the ODP due to the server upgrade?

Wow! Thanks for the quick response.

Sorry for not being clear. I have done the "Update URL".

I can see from this forum why things take so long.. editors seem to spend their time answering questions here, usually saying "It's not been a month yet"

Hope you can help us out eventually. The link to .net is confusing Google.

Best Wishes.

Not an issue with us and never will be. Listing mirrors, however, is Very Bad and is something we don't want to do.

"Listing mirrors, however, is Very Bad"

Does this mean you can change it Very Quickly?

It was not something done deliberately, just a mistake that I want to see cleaned up.

Thanks to all.

Boy, you just can't keep people happy, can you? We get stones thrown at us that we spend all our time in our ivory towers and don't have enough contact with submitters and then when we *do*, we get told we should be editing more.

*sigh* We just can't win, can we?

To explain: Editing is *voluntary* - we do as much and what we feel like we can do to help the directory. Without it we would probably go insane (if you saw some of the submissions we get you'd know what I mean!). Some of us masochists give up some of our time to try to interact with submitters so they can know the status of their sites.

And, to put it in perspective, there are 5,000 editors with active logins right now - the percentage that post here regularly is miniminal in comparison.

But if you'd rather we edited than answer your questions, I'm sure we'd be pleased to ignore your forum requests in future...

OK, URL fixed. Explain something if you would ... how many dive companies are there in Phuket, and how many hotels as well? I can't believe the junky sneaky webmaster spammy stuff I am seeing submitted to these Thailand-tourism-related categories.

Many thanks! I must admit I was surprised to arrive at work and find it fixed already. If I see any more unfriendly complaining posts at WW I will back you guys up!

Can I ask why the description was changed??

Great job you all do. I say "job", but I know some people seem to forget that editing is voluntary, yet still they like to stone you.

Yes you can.

Oh, you want to have an answer, too? Ok then. We normally try to not describe the business so much (especially no lists of towns, regions, prices, condition, ...) but to describe the site and its contents.

The user is supposed to look at the site itself to get the whole load of information about the business, we try to tell him what he might expect there.
