We recently purchased a website which was listed in it's original national region is dmoz. After the purchase we contacted dmoz and asked that the website be transferred from its original national region to our national region. dmoz subsequently remove the site from its original national region but did not add it to our nation region. Any thoughts why this might occur?

Thanks.

Several thoughts.
If the site was moved to another category the editor may not have had permissions to republish it in the new location
If the site has changed ownership, it needs a full re-review to ensure it is still listable
If it was in a National level category, the site may not have been correctly listed there and has been moved to the location(s) shown on the site (Note this is true if you are looking at Regional www.dmoz.org/Regional/ as the top level category - there are Topical categories sub divided as far as country/state which list sites using a different criteria.

Since it is obvious the request has been actioned in some way "dmoz subsequently remove the site from its original national region" and we do not provide details on individual sites, all you can do is wait to see when/if it is relisted.

I suspect the lesson here for everyone is if you're listed don't tell DMOZ of changes. Then again, that's not very good for the accuracy of the Directory. Shame really.

The shame is that you would recommend to others that they take a course of action that places the well being of their website above the overall good of the directory.

Says a lot about ethics.

Kindly be assured, I am making no recommendations, I am simply identifying a clear prejudice and anomaly within the system that does not encourage site updates. I am not sure whether I would agree with your assumption that the system's not ethical. However, it could clearly be improved.
