Our site has been listed in DMOZ for a long time. However, we now carry different products and would like to move our listing to a different and more apropriate category. I have tied several times to do this in the Open Directory, but it never gets changed. Any suggestions?
The usual method is to submit an update (using the Update_URL button), and ask the editor to move your site.
Assuming you have tried this and nothing has happened, and you've waited a reasonable time for the change to be looked at, you'd better tell us your URL, and the categories involved so we can take a look.

Our site now sells predominately swimwear and would like to be moved to Shopping: Clothing: Swimwear, if possible. Our URL is http://store.yahoo.com/tropi-ties/index.html .

I see plenty of other types of clothing on your site. It's currently listed in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Clothing/Casual/ , which seems a sensible place for it. There's too many other items to list you under Swimwear.
That's too bad. I am looking at our warehouse inventory and see over 80% of it in swimwear. We even manufacture our own swimwear line. I wish you would reconsider. Your decision is costing us a lot of money.

Moving you to another category would not suddenly generate vast amounts of traffic to your site. If you're losing money, it's down to your own site design. Nothing I can do will help you.
Besides, we are not here to assist webmasters in their marketing activities, we are here to find sites, and list them in the appropriate category. Your site is currently listed in the most appropriate category and therefore we have done the job we set out to do.

I find your snide comments to my polite request way out of line. Our web site is neither poorly designed, nor losing money. We are one of the top swimwear sites on the web and have been around for many years. It's too bad that you have chosen to be so rude, rather than look into the situation.
I was not criticising your site design, I was simply observing that the ODP will not help you to make more money. You said that my decision was costing you a lot of money, and this is simply untrue. The ODP cannot make you more money, only you can do that by improving your marketing to capture more customers, and your site design to retain those customers. My decision does not affect your ability to make money from your site.

Calm down, count to 10 and accept the decision. Getting yourself worked up and starting to insult editors (by implying that they are making snide comments et al) will not assist you in anyway.

The situation has been looked into. It is not our fault if you will not accept the final decision. You can say what you want but the fact remains that you are listed and after a second look the editors have determined that you are properly listed.
Remember - the dmoz organization did not say that your site was losing money or was badly designed - that would be solely the opinion of the people making those comments.

I can see where the problem is: editors only look at your website to decide placement, not inside your warehouse.

Tropi-Ties, Inc. and Entare, Inc. are two, completely, separate stores. Both stores are incorporated as separate entities, with separate shareholders. I happen to help run both internet sites and the sites are linked for better marketing.

Yes, you are off topic, but for your reference, Tropi-Ties was established in 1995 and began selling products on line near the end of that year. I am not sure where you got your information, but it is incorrect.
