Hi there!
I submitted our site (www.visual-format.net) to the following category several months ago.

Top: Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: Full Service: V

Can somebody please tell me whether the site has been refused entry (if that's the case, may I ask why) or whether it's waiting approval.

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

Regards,

Anna

Your submission of August 17th is waiting for review in Computers: Internet: Web Design and Development: Designers: Full Service: V. Please note that we ask you to give a clickable link like this when asking for a status report (and to ask a month after submitting).

By the way, your site was accepted for Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: London: Business and Economy: Internet on August 19th. It will appear on the category page as soon as current hardware problems will be solved.

Yours,
Robert

Dear Robert

Many thanks for your prompt reply.

Sorry about the not-hyperlinked category (my first post, and I *should* have read the forum rules... sorry again!)

Thanks for the status update.

Is there a way to find out to how many category a site has been submitted, as I may have lost track. Also, is there a *maximum* number of categories a site can be submitted to?

Finally, I requested (some time ago, but forget when) for www.darkestmoonlite.co.uk to be changed to www.visual-format.net as that's the new url and name of our company.
(for instance in: Top: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: England: London: Lewisham: Business and Economy: Internet ) - Is there anything else I need to do for the change to be actioned?

Many thanks in advance for your kind assistance.

Hi Anna,

I'll try and answer some of your questions.

> Is there a way to find out to how many category a site has been submitted, as I may have lost track.

No. That's why we ask you to supply a link to the category to which you submitted your site. The computer does not record how many categories you have submitted your site to. We don't know that, and each editor evaluates the site as if you submitted only to his category.

Of course we do record our notes when we reject a site for a category, and if your site gets a lot of rejections, that shows on our logs. We don't appreciate it when people submit their sites to multiple incorrect categories, and even without writing the word spam in the notes, it's what we think when we see all those rejections.

Also, is there a *maximum* number of categories a site can be submitted to?

Again no. It depends on the site. Multilingual sites can be submitted more times. Sites with both a topical interest and a regional one can be submitted in both a topical and regional area. It also depends on the site content. If Betty Crocker adds a wonderfully detailed section on preparing food safely, that would probably get them an extra listing.

As for your update, it went through on August 19th on this page - http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/London/Business_and_Economy/Internet/

The update request is still pending in http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/London/Lewisham/Business_and_Economy/Internet/

I'm not sure what will happen there. I don't think it really should be listed in both those categories. We usually pick the one Regional category that fits best.
